Hey Todd I was wondering if you liked your GL1? I have a homie that is willing to sell me his GL1, Death Lens, and Extra Batteries for $550. :I was saving up for a VX1000 but figured if the GL1 was at least a decent camera might go ahead and just get it while I can get one cheap.

I loved my GL1 but if you noticed "loved" it recently decided to stop working. It wont eject tapes, and the play, reverse, fast forward buttons dont work. It still records and all the other buttons work, but the few things that are wrong a important.

Now that I've had my GL1 for a while I want some thing better. but its a good beginners camera and is a decent camera. The only issue that people have is the sound isn't as good as the vx and the chips have more pixels so you'll get better colors with the vx. the GL lacks in the manual control settings.

But the vx1000 has no LCD screen (which takes practice on not using) and there is no controls on the handle(no record buttons, zoom, etc.)

Now Im starting to save up for a vx1000, or a panasonic dvx100b or something crazy.

if you wanted to i'd sell you all my stuff for 250$ but you would have to get it repaired some where.
(GL1, 4 batteries, raynox fish, bag, charger, cords, etc)

I'll get back to you on that deal. I'm going to run by Sammy's Camera tomorrow and ask about the repair prices. And for camera I'd recommend a vx2k/ vx2k1. Only camera that has great night footage, one of the most durable, and has a long life span. It is cheaper than the vx1k usually and the only major issue or most people is the colors tend to have a golden tint to them but if you ask anyone tHat is into cameras they say that if you know how to set colors they can have the exact same colors as a vx or better the only problem is 99% of people don't understand the concept of setting colors.

P.S. Todd the no LCD on the vx1k isn't hard to get used to. For lines as long as you stay close and remember to tilt the camera up and then in the needed directions. And then use the eyepiece for stairs, gaps, etc. It is what my filmer uses so I get to use it and his hvx200 when it calls for second angles/ filmer footy.

Yeah the only differnce that iheard were the vx1k has better sound and colors, but the vx2k made up for it by be able to shoot better at night. I'll def. Do some some research before my next buy.

The better sound on the vx1k is actually disputable. Most people think it has better sound but many think that that is just because it is what everyone is used to hearing which therefor makes them believe that it is a better sound. And same with colors, no camera technically has "better" colors, all just depends on what you want your footage to look like and wether or not you can set the colors.
